Driveline Classic PlyoCare® Balls

$70.00

How It Works

Progressive overload/underload training

Heavier balls force your body to recruit the entire kinetic chain — legs, hips, trunk — because your arm alone can't move the extra weight. This organizes your throwing pattern into a more efficient sequence and conditions connective tissue.

Lighter balls teach your arm to move faster through those same improved patterns. The reduced load lets the neuromuscular system fire at a higher rate — which is where velocity gains come from.

The combined effect: your nervous system adapts to both extremes. When you return to a regulation baseball, you throw with better mechanics and higher arm speed.

The PlyoVelo Calculator

The PlyoVelo calculator provides direction and context as to what training focus may benefit the athlete the most.

The most common way we have been using the new plyos in-gym is to program athletes for overload or underload velocity phases based on what the PlyoVelo calculator tells us after an athlete does a baseline plyo velo. The calculator will suggest overload, underload, or standard set.

DESIGNED IN THE LAB. PROVEN ON THE FIELD.

The Driveline Difference

PlyoCare balls weren't sourced from a factory catalog. They were designed inside Driveline's training facilities, iterated based on athlete data, and refined across thousands of throwing sessions with professional, collegiate, and youth athletes.

The seamless surface is intentional — not a cost-saving measure. Seams trigger familiar neuromuscular patterns that these drills are specifically designed to re-pattern. Removing the seams removes the shortcut. Your body has to find a new, more efficient way to move.

Every design decision — the weight increments, the sand fill, the PVC rubber shell, the 2.85" diameter — was made to optimize a specific training outcome. Nothing about this ball is arbitrary.

Behind The Design

Slide image

Seamless PVC rubber shell

Removes tactile seam feedback that triggers existing neuromuscular patterns. Forces the nervous system to develop new, more efficient movement solutions.

Slide image

Calibrated sand fill

Deadens on impact for high-rep wall and rebounder work without ricochet. Weight distributed evenly for consistent feel.

Slide image

2.85" diameter

Within regulation baseball spec (2.86–2.94"). Sized for natural throwing mechanics — close enough to feel right, different enough to retrain.

Slide image

15,000-throw durability

The most durable shell in the category. For daily warm-up use, roughly 2–3 years before replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Need more info? Please reach out to support@drivelinebaseball.com so we can help!

What age is appropriate for PlyoCare balls?

Youth Set for ages 9–13. Adult sets (Starter/Advanced) for 14+. PlyoCare drills are submaximal — arm care and warm-up tools, not max-effort velocity programs.

What's the difference between PlyoCare and weighted baseballs?

PlyoCare: seamless, sand-filled, submaximal drills. Trains how you move. Weighted baseballs: seamed, near-max intent. Trains how hard you throw. Complementary tools for different parts of a program.

Why are PlyoCare balls seamless?

Seams trigger familiar neuromuscular patterns. PlyoCare drills re-pattern those movements. Remove the seams, remove the shortcut — your body finds a more efficient way to organize the throw.

How long do they last?

15,000+ throws per ball. Daily warm-up use = roughly 2–3 years.

Classic or Enhanced Grip?

Same design and training methodology. Enhanced Grip adds a pre-tacked surface for consistent grip in humid conditions. If you've wished they were easier to hold — Enhanced Grip. Never had grip issues? Classic works great.

Starter or Advanced?

Starter covers the full spectrum and is sufficient for the standard protocol. Advanced adds intermediate weights for smoother transitions — preferred by programs using PlyoCare daily. Start with Starter; add individual balls later.

Is a training program included?

Yes. QR code for Driveline's free 16-week throwing program with in-season and off-season versions.

Can softball athletes use PlyoCare?

Yes. Overload/underload training applies to any overhead throwing athlete. Drills, mechanics, and training effect are the same regardless of sport.
