New PULSE Upgrades Are Here

| Blog Article
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Five years ago, we acquired Motus Global and rebranded to PULSE. In those five years, we have been hard at work to bring workload management in baseball player development to the modern era.

While pitch count and inning limit rules are a good first step in preventing overuse injuries, the framework is unable to fully account for throws in between games or across multiple teams. PULSE aims to fill in the gap and paint a complete picture of the workload placed on throwers from Little League to MLB.

However, as we enter a new era of player development, the technology we use must also adapt to meet the needs of the athletes. This is where PULSE 2.0 comes in.

PULSE 2.0 maintains the core functionality that has made it the premier wearable throwing workload monitor while adding significant quality-of-life improvements. The device continues to track arm speed, torque, and throwing volume with unmatched precision, now with extended battery life and improved connectivity features—all available with just a software update.

Every throw is tracked with the same IMU technology used in guided missiles and VR headsets. While pitch counts just give you a number, PULSE measures the actual torque placed on the arm. By capturing arm speed, acceleration, total throws, and throwing intensity, we can create throwing workload for every athlete.

The sensor’s advanced measurements are distilled into a simple workload score that tells you exactly how much and how hard to throw each day. For Driveline athletes, PULSE integrates directly with your training program, automatically adjusting your throwing and recovery protocols based on your accumulated workload. Stop guessing about arm stress. Train smarter with throwing workload data.

Key Features

  • New Sleep Mode: improves battery life from 8-15 hours to 2-10 days
  • Enhanced Bluetooth connectivity: seamless pairing and stronger connections
  • Data Sync: streamlined syncing within the TRAQ app ecosystem

Forgot to charge after practice? No problem!

Sleep Mode preserves battery life, giving your sensor the ability to survive multiple days of use before needing a recharge. PULSE can now make it through full school day, bus ride for a road game, and then some! Just strap it on and begin throwing to wake it up to track your throws.

If your PULSE has no charge, 10 minutes will get you an hour of battery, so plug it in during your warm-up and it will get you through your throwing session. A full hour plugged in gets the sensor back to full battery!

Locked In Live Mode

If you enjoy throwing with your PULSE in Live Mode, the improved Bluetooth strength gives you greater distance you can move from your device before the sensor disconnects. Once back in range, the sensor and your device will automatically reconnect, keeping you locked in during your throwing workout.

TRAQ Users and Driveline Athletes

For all TRAQ users, workload data is now synced with the workouts you prescribe your athletes, giving you next level insight into how they are being executed.

All Driveline Athletes are now receiving feedback from prior throwing sessions and goal setting for future ones in the Driveline Baseball Training App! Just sync your data and have post session analysis ready for you the next day on your Home Screen!

How to Upgrade Your PULSE

Testing Validation

  • In-house user testing confirms battery life improvement from 8-15 hours to 2-10 days
  • Bluetooth connection speed substantially improved with automatic reconnection capabilities
  • Reduced connectivity issues dramatically during training sessions confirmed by user testing
  • Continued in-house validation conducted with professional and collegiate pitchers throughout development
  • Workload algorithm refined through thousands of throwing sessions from players of all skill levels—amateur to MLB

What's next?

We have made PULSE integral to our in-house operations, using it daily to train the athletes that entrust their careers with us. The improvements are targeted at improving the care we provide for all users. We believe PULSE is best used when worn daily, and the hardware improvements are the first step in making that dream become a reality.

The software that runs our coaching interventions has also seen some major facelifts, all with the goal of making PULSE easier to use. It is one thing to collect data, but without it being digestible and providing valuable insight to players and coaches alike, the data is all for naught.

We have been hard at work to meet the demands of our athletes, our coaches, and our customers, something we have been committed to doing since our inception. The data collected from PULSE guides our Pitching and Player Development departments in ensuring the throwing training we provide is always ahead of the curve.

We are not stopping here. This is only the beginning. Welcome to PULSE 2.0. Happy throwing!
